A lot of students in recent time have been struggling on how to be successful and still perform poorly in their academic pursuit.
They have been failing in some important courses, having low grades, not being able to understand and imbibe the right culture and knowing the right approach to use in combating this problem.
As a result of this, we have come up with some very useful nuggets or valuable steps on how to help you achieve your goals and be successful in your field of study and some other fields of discipline.
Academic Nuggets That Lead To Success
1. Plan your academic goal(s).
2. Have a working time management system.
3. Knowing your TWOS ( Threat, weakness, opportunity, strength ).
4. Work your assignment.
5. Understand your teachers.
6. Ask questions.
7. Develop study breaks.
8. Be friends with the library.
9. Be flexible.
10. Work smart and pray hard.
Based on these steps, we will only be discussing few of them now and later the other ones will be talked about largely.
PLANNING YOUR ACADEMIC GOAL(s)
It is important to have a goal before embarking on any journey you wish to take.
Know the grade (CGPA) you wish to graduate with and why you even need such grades.
Before you gain an admission into the university or other institution of learning, it is pertinent you sit and draw a comprehensive and strategic plan on how to get that grade your heart longs for based on what or where you will be employed in the future and stick to the plan ensuring that your dream is visualised.
HAVE A WORKING TIME MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.
I added ‘working’ here because a lot of student actually have drafted their various time management system but still fail to follow this plan.
For you to have success, you must understand that time cost is very expensive therefore you have to make every second count usefully.
Have time for study, time for yourself and time for other developmental activities to broaden your knowledge.
KNOWING YOUR ‘TWOS’ ( Threat, Weakness, Opportunity Strength ).
As a student who wish to be outstanding academically and otherwise, it is relevant you know what is posing as threat to you and do well to eliminate it on time before it endangers your goal. Learn to conquer it or have it corrected.
Know your weakness, that is identifying areas where you are not so prolific and seek for help so as to be stable in it.
Don’t take for granted any opportunity given in order you to develop yourself because they rarely come by.
Though you are good in other areas but this shouldn’t be a yardstick for you to play around instead you should constantly and consistently practice.
WORK YOUR ASSIGNMENT
We just want it coming so easy and not interested in knowing how. This has been the mentality eating up a lot of students. Ben Carson loved doing other students assignment and this helped him gain mastery over some courses while in school.
To be successful, you have to source for information yourself and also do your own assignment to be knowledgeable about the course.
KNOW YOUR TEACHERS
Understanding your teacher is a very important strategy.
Know the pattern of his teaching and put down important notes when he is teaching.
Some teachers are very prolific when teaching, some give information that may not be easily found in your textbooks.
Seek to know how he wants questions to be answered during quiz or exams.
Establish a good relationship with him and don’t give him a bad impression about yourself and….
